Forest Fuel Break Operations | Michigan
A forest fuel break is a crucial strategy for reducing the risk of wildfire damage to residential areas. By clearing some vegetation, we can significantly lower the chances of a wildfire spreading and causing harm. In this video, we demonstrate how using a dozer improves the efficiency and effectiveness of creating these essential forest fuel breaks.

Why is it the DNR being presented like they’re only in Michigan State..when in fact they are in every state?

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Each state has their own version of a fish and wildlife or parks and natural resources agency. Michigan has the Department of Natural Resources and we’re a state agency of the State of Michigan. Hope that offers some clarity.

The forestry division is destroying not improving habitat. They are money grabbing. Selling off all the state land hardwood forests. Mature oak trees feed many species of wildlife for decades. The popal & jack pine regrowth is only beneficial for a few years. Very poor management in my opinion.

Forest fires are important they keep forests healthy allowing understory plants to grow and keeping forest open and yes too many forest fires can be bad but so too can too little forest fires the natives burned land for thousands of years burning kills ticks and keeps the amount of fuel down so when fires do burn they are not devistating to humans or to the forest

Can I learn more about this fish and how it differs from the rest I am very curious I have always wondered stuff like this I mean that’s a lot of pressure and that water is ice cold and the ecosystem is different down there

You call yourself a scientist yet you cant even release the fish properly? You don't even use a sea equalizer to get them back down to the depths safely before they explode from pressure. Lame. Disliked.

Government propaganda at it's best. There are many problems with this type of land management which this DNR propaganda video of course fails to mention. Here are just three problems that any sane person would at least mention so as not to mislead the viewers. But that is not the point of this video. The video is not to educate you but indoctrinate you. Thanks government, as usual. Three problems: 1) Creating an artificial environment 2) making an entire ecosystem dependent on human interventions, and 3) preventing natural evolution.

"Steward" ... huh, makes sense to me now. One of my favorite long bow hunts from years past involved watching an Eastern Chipmunk for over 3 hours running to my bait site, filling it's cheeks with several kernels of shelled corn running the length of a downed and decaying oak tree to hide the corn in the open end of the large tree stump and then reappearing and running back along the downed tree to refill it's cheeks for another trip to it's corn cache. It did a good job of depleting my spread out gallon of corn. Did not see a deer on that hunt in the Manistee National Forest, but I sure was entertained.
